The Chancel
It is obvious that the chancel is out of alignment with the nave by several degrees to the south.

Tradition says that churches were built this way to show the inclination of the Saviour's head on the cross.
From the style of the chancel arch and the basic structure of the east window, the chancel dates probably from the end of the 13th century.
In their present form all the windows date from Bray's restoration. The chancel was restored in 1860 at the expense of Trinity College, Cambridge, as patron and lay-rector of the parish.
