St Mary's Eaton Bray: January 2006
Festival of Candlemass
Next Sunday (29th) we celebrate the Festival of Candlemass, the end of the Christmas season. Morning services will be at the usual times.
After the Sung Eucharist there will be a short training session for those who assist with the distribution of Holy Communion. At Dagnall there will be a Special Service at 4.00pm.
Roof Repair Fund - Coffee Morning
A Coffee Morning in aid of our Roof Repair Fund will be held on Saturday 28th January between 10.00am and 12noon at Butler's Folly, South End Lane, Northall.
There will be a Cake Stall, Raffle, Bring-and-Buy and Phoenix Trading Greeting Cards. Entrance £1, including cofee and a scone.
Please support this first effort to raise money for our roof.
Churches Together - Any Questions?
An open meeting to help members of the different churches understand one another's beliefs and attitudes will be at Edlesborough Methodist Church, at 8.00pm on Wednesday 18th January, where a panel of local Christian leaders will answer the questions that have been posed by our various churches in recent weeks.
United Service
All Christians in our four villages are invited to come together for a special United Service on next Sunday (22nd) at 4pm, at St Mary's.
We welcome as our guest preacher Major Christine Bailey, Divisional Commander for the Salvation Army - let's make a special effort this year, and ensure that there are plenty of members of the host church to welcome the visitors!
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins on Wednesday (18th) - please give it a special place in your own prayers, and join in the special events to observe it.
"May they all be one, even as you Father, are in me and I in you", Jesus prayed on the night of his betrayal and arrest. That prayer must always be in the heart of every Christian organisation. That we should all be truly united in worship and service is God's will.
Eaton Bray Village Hall Cinema
Next film will be shown tomorrow (Monday) at 2.00pm - "The Wedding Singers", a cert. 12 romance, starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Tickets £3.50 on sale at the door.
