Mothers’ Union, Eaton Bray With Edlesborough
Summer is the time for outings, and the July meeting was planned accordingly with a trip to the Cotswold villages, but the devastating floods in that area prompted a quick change of plan to a visit to the beautiful city of Cambridge.
In September a 'craft afternoon' was held when Audrey Reynolds demonstrated and then encouraged the making of small gift boxes - a piece of card, a pencil, scissors, determination - and a new skill happily acquired with a good deal of amusement along the way.
In October it was the turn of this Branch to host the annual Mothers' Union Overseas Service which was attended by members from the Priory Church of St Peter, Dunstable, St. George's Toddington, All Saints Leighton Buzzard and our own members. The banners of all the churches - and that of St. Mary's Edlesborough - were processed through the Church at the beginning and end of the service, with the address given by Mrs. Shirley Dodgshon, Speaker in the Diocese of St. Albans, on the overseas work carried out by the Mothers' Union. The visitors and members then enjoyed afternoon tea together.
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 2.p.m. in the Coffee Tavern and visitors will be very welcome.
