Music for a Summer's Evening - 10th September, St Mary's
The Manor House String Quartet present "Music for a Summer's Evening", a Trip Around the World on 10th September 2011.
Saturday 10th September 2011, 7.30pm
This promises to be a special evening as we welcome the Manor House String Quartet to St Mary's - some of the UK's finest classical musicians.
The members also play with the country's leading orchestras - including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Academy of St Martins in the Fields. They play and record with many other chamber ensembles, individually touring across the globe and appearing in many classical and film soundtrack recordings.
The theme of the evening's entertainment will be "Music for a Summer's Evening", so you can expect to hear some profoundly beautiful music redolent of the sounds and warmth of summer, including:
- Debussy: Reverie
- Daquin: The Cuckoo
- Saint Saens: The Swan
- Vivaldi: Four Seasons - Summer
- Delibes: The Flower Duet from Lakme
- Mozart: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
Please get your tickets, priced £7.50 from Sharon Stilliard or Gordon Gray.
Note: The Box Office for November's Poppy Prom will be opened at this concert so your attendance will enable you to get the best seats for the Poppy Prom.
The Champagne Galopp is an early piece by Johann Strauss Sr. published when he was only 24. It is played here by the Manor House String Quartet in St Mary's, Eaton Bray last year.
