Deirdrea welcomed members to the meeting on August 8th, and gave out birthday cards for Sheila Heffer and Joan Packer. Devotions were led by Celia.

Joan Fossey demonstrated how to make table decorations, there were four in total which were different in shape and size and a selection of beautiful and colourful flowers were used. These decorations were given as raffle prizes together with three others made prior to the meeting. Joan was thanked by Deirdrea and given a gift and thank you card. A lovely tea and social time followed.

September 12th Meeting – Deirdea welcomed Fay and Joan to the meeting and birthday cards were given to Maureen Cecil and Joan Chappell.

A prayer was said for Maisie Fountaine who died recently; the funeral took place on Thursday 20th September at St.Mary's Church.

Coralie led the devotions. Notices were read by Deirdrea. The trip to Henley on 9th August was a great success. Coralie gave the Guild members a blessing before the coach left the church, the day was spent either browsing, eating in various restaurants or taking a most relaxing boat trip on the river. A stop was made on the way home for the customary wine and nibbles followed by a very "different and interesting" raffle where everyone had a prize. A very special day was had by all.

A provisional booking has been made for a Christmas meal at the Traveller's Friend on 28th November at 1pm, full details will be given at the next meeting on 10th October, the speaker will be Eileen Bennett 'A Cruise to New York'.

Deirdrea introduced the speaker, Jean Johnson whose subject was 'Service Providers'. Members were very surprised to learn that Service Providers didn't mean gas, electricity or water providers but prostitutes! Jean explained that she was campaigning to get prostitution decriminalised which would contribute to the health and safety of the girls involved. June thanked Jean for a very entertaining and informative talk.

After the closing prayer, refreshments, raffl e and social time followed.
