We are hoping for good weather on Sunday (23rd August 2020) for the Open Gardens event starting at 11am after the Morning service. I hope you will be able to come along. Catherine has asked me to let you know about the BEDS & HERTS HISTORIC CHURCHES TRUST BIKE 'N HIKE on Saturday 12th September.

"So many things have been cancelled this year but fortunately some events are able to continue. One of these is the Beds and Herts Historic Churches Trust Bike 'n Hike The Trust is an important organisation for churches such as ours, Grade 1 listed, still serving the parish in which it has stood for over 800 years and built of Totternhoe clunch, so in need of constant repair. We have benefitted from the Trust in the past, having received grants on several occasions, the last one being a significant contribution to the building of our extension. Another important reason to give our support is that our friend and previous vicar, Canon Malcolm Grant, has now taken over as chairman.

Is there one person in our parish (not necessarily a church member) who would be willing to take part this year to visit as many churches and chapels as they can, by whatever means they can devise? The event is not restricted to bikers and hikers; you can visit the churches by car too or even mobility scooter or horse!

Do not worry about sponsors. I know that if someone comes forward to join in, the members of St Mary's will readily step forward with sponsorship - and we do get half the sponsorship money back for our own purposes. If you are even a little bit interested, please contact me for further details."

We have been busy going through all the information and preparation to enable us to start services of Holy Communion again. These will commence on Sunday 6th September at 10am at St Mary's and the Wednesday 10am Eucharist will start again on 9th September. Unfortunately, due to all the cleaning involved, we will not be able to hold 8am services at present.

The online service will be available on St Mary's website or on the YouTube channel and St Mary's Facebook page. For those of you who like to have a copy of the service please see this week's pew leaflet. Don't forget to get in touch with Diane Goodwin if you want more information on the Electoral Roll.

Every Blessing,
Joy
