Parish Project 2007
Chilterns Multiple Sclerosis Centre
Multiple Sclerosis is a degenerative condition of the central nervous system for which as yet there is no cure. For anyone, the sudden disclosure that MS has appeared in their lives will be a major shock, generating a need for information, advice and support.
The Chilterns MS Centre based at Halton, near Wendover, treats 200 patients a week. It offers a variety of therapies, (mainly physiotherapy and High Density Oxygen Therapy) and provides advice, support and hope to not only the patients, but also their families, carers and friends. The Centre is rapidly outgrowing its current premises in gaining 2/3 new patients a week. It is hoped that a new purpose built premises in the future will satisfy a growing demand for services which are at present unavailable on the NHS. The Centre costs £300,000 a year to run and its charitable status means that it is constantly striving to make ends meet.
Please see the Chilterns Multiple Sclerosis Centre website for more details of this charity.
