A Happy New Year to you all from everyone at St. Mary's. At the last meeting of the PCC held in December, it was decided to donate one hundred pounds to each of the five charities nominated by the congregation as well as seven others from whom we received appeals. In addition two hundred pounds has been donated to each of four larger beneficiaries. For 2008, four nominations were considered for the Parish Project, it was decided to adopt Macmillan Cancer Support. A substantial amount of work on the fabric of the Church will be required throughout 2008, and thanks to a generous donation we will be getting new chairs installed later in the year.

The PCC met on Thursday 10th January 2008 at All Saints' Church, Dagnall following a celebration of the Eucharist. There is still no volunteer to represent St Mary's at Churches Together. Three members of the PCC met with a representative from a Contract Cleaning Company with regard to cleaning the Church. It was agreed that we should employ this company fortnightly.

Discussions about a new Meeting Venue for the Mothers' Union is Ongoing.

Ash Wednesday is the 6th February. Lent courses are being arranged. Churches' Together subject will be "The Lords Prayer" - the North Chilterns Group subject will be "Religious Drama". The Wednesday House Group is holding a weekly course. Posters will give full details of dates, times and venues for all the courses together with appropriate telephone numbers to contact, if you are interested in attending.

Two new chair samples are in church together with two colour swatches, the congregation has been asked to give their preference to Mike Smith or Churchwardens.

The proposal to create the position of Parish Administrator is still ongoing.

Over £6,000 has been raised by St Mary's for its charity of the year 2007. A cheque was presented to representatives of the Chilterns Multiple Sclerosis Society On Sunday 6th January at the 10 a.m service.

Friends of St. Mary's coffee morning in the church will resume in April. There will be a Fair Trade Breakfast in March. The Parish Lunch held on the third Sunday each month continues to be a great success but more help is required. A discussion about a service directed at children was lengthy. A volunteer from the congregation, Sunday School Teacher's and representatives from the PCC are to meet to put some proposals together. The children's services at Christmas were well supported and enjoyed, thanks to Gordon Gray who seems to connect with the children so well.

Budget proposals for 2008 were presented by our Treasurer and accepted by the PCC.
