During the Summer months, the Guild members have been delighted to welcome their guest speakers and enjoy fellowship and teas together.

After devotions led by Deirdrea on Fellowship and Friendship, Bryan and Megan Daniels showed slides of a two week holiday on 'the Beauty of South Africa'.

Megan had prepared the commentary to accompany the wonderful pictures of the scenery, varied fauna, flora, animals and birds of South Africa. It was lovely to sit back and be transported to this wonderful country.

In September, after the devotions taken by Christine Hallaway, Lieutenent Colonel Brian Knightley and his wife Dorothy, told of their work within the Salvation Army.

Its ministry is motivated by the love of God, with its mission being to preach the gospel and to meet human needs without discrimination.

Brian spoke of the background of William Booth who walked the streets of London to preach the gospel to the poor, the homeless, the hungry and the destitute. He then travelled throughout England conducting evangelical meetings, greatly assisted by his wife Catherine.

Dorothy showed us the elegant bonnet that used to be worn, plus the up to date replacement which was more practical.

They were fascinating to listen to and the sincerity of their work and service was obvious.

The next meeting is on Wednesday 13th October at 2.00pm in the church, when Vivienne Grundy will be teaching crafts and the making of covered Christmas baubles.

There will be a raffle and bring and buy stall towards the Mercy Ship and Smile Train project.

The Autumn Guild outing will be on Wednesday 20th October leaving the church at 9.30am to Bicester Avenue Garden Centre, which won the store 'Design of the Year' award in 2008, then onto Yarnton Antique and Garden Centre after lunch.

Please contact June Thorne if you would like to join us. Cost £16.

Any visitors would be welcome to join us to hear the speakers and enjoy sharing tea and fellowship together each month.
